The Healing Kadi Foundation (HKF) was formed in response to the overwhelming medical needs in Southern Sudan.  In 2007, the first medical mission team went to Kajo Keji.  Doctors, nurses, and pharmacists spent 2 weeks operating medical clinics under trees and in huts.  Many patients walked long distances only to be turned away because there was no electricity to continue the clinics once the sun went down.  The medical team saw firsthand the reality of life without adequate medical care.  In 2009, The Healing Kadi Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was formed to raise funds to build a permanent hospital.

To date, we have been able to raise funds to build a “Clinic in a Can” by Hospitals of Hope which is the first step in our mission to bring medical care to Kajo Keji.  The clinic contains exam rooms, a laboratory, surgical and radiology suites and is self-contained with a generator and water purification system. The clinic will sit on the site where the St. Luke’s Hospital will be built.  The three “Clinic in a Can” units are currently in route to Kajo Keji and site preparation is almost complete.  The people of Kajo Keji will soon have an operational health clinic.  We still need to raise funds to staff and operate the clinic on a daily basis.
